Indonesian Ministry of Religion Day
Indonesian Ministry of Religion Day is celebrated every January 3 every year. The Indonesian Ministry of Religion (MoRA) is an institution under the Government of the Republic of Indonesia which is in charge of all matters concerning religion. The Ministry of Religion has now been changed to the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia.
Commemoration of the Day of the Ministry of Religion, started on January 3, 1946, was officially established by the Ministry of Religion and the government at that time appointed Haji Mohammad Rasjidi as the first Minister of Religion and also as a Muhammadiyah figure. The Ministry of Religion at that time was only centered in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and was known as the Ministry of Revolution because DIY was dubbed the capital of the revolution.
Philosophically, socio-politically and historically religion for Indonesia has been entrenched and rooted in the life of the Indonesian nation. Because religious figures and leaders always appear as pioneers of the movement and struggle for independence through political parties and other means.
The struggle for the independence movement has been going through an easy and long road during the Dutch colonial era until the defeat of Japan in World War II.
At the time of independence, namely August 17, 1945 the position of religion became more solid and with the stipulation of Pancasila as the ideology and philosophy of the state and the 1945 Constitution. The precepts of Belief in One God were recognized as from the precepts that reflected the very religious character of the Indonesian nation as well as gave meaning to progress - spiritual progress to be achieved.
